I call these accidental turkey burgers because I accidentally added pumpkin pie spice thinking it was chili powder. Oops. Turns out, they are fantastic. I ground up some oatmeal in the blender and added that as bread crumbs. I still added the chili powder for a little kick. They turned out just wonderful! 188 calories per burger. Makes 7 burgers.
Again, I ground the dry oatmeal in a blender until it was sort of like flour. Then I combined all of the ingredients. The marinara sauce was hard to calculate on myfitnesspal.com. I only added about 2 tablespoons. I made 7 burgers and cooked them in a frying pan. You can make smaller burgers. If you really want to figure out the calorie count for smaller burgers, divide the total calories, (1313), by the number of burgers you make. The oatmeal does cause these to puff up a bit. And they cook quickly, much quicker than ground beef. So, this is a very fast recipe to make if you do not have a lot of time.
As you can see from the picture I put a slice of lite provolone cheese on a couple of burgers. The Trader Joe’s Lite Provolone has 70 calories. Enjoy!
